Cablecast 001: Black Sun Empire
Friday 31st August 2012

Cable turned 3 years young earlier this year and in a comparatively short period of time, we've nurtured many of the world's leading recording artists on their way to international recognition.  It's great timing, then, that this week we'll be releasing our shiny new podcast series, aptly named 'Cablecast'.

Several of London's premier drum & bass, house, techno, dubstep & future bass brands were launched at Cable and now call the place their home. Our refusal to follow a set musical direction, instead focusing on quality and character, has helped us carve out a unique reputation in one of the world's most vibrant musical cities. The Cablecast series will closely follow the mission of Cable as a club, representing only cutting-edge, high-grade sounds regardless of genre.

We've called on the services of dutch drum & bass front runners Black Sun Empire to launch the Cablecast series. The trio, famed for pioneering the techy side of the genre, also host their own 'Blackout' raves across Europe. These infamous soirees frequent some the continent's leading drum & bass haunts so we drafted in the guys to bring Blackout to London for it's UK debut, here at Cable, back in January 2012. It was an epic gathering, with Cable witnessing one if it's biggest and most raucous crowds to date. Of course we invited the guys back again for round 2 and we're now looking forward to our 3rd Blackout installment here on Saturday 1st September. It's fitting, then, that the trio have mixed the first episode of the Cablecast.

We caught up with the guys for a quick-fire interview to pick their brains about the mix.

Where, how and on what was the mix recorded?

This is a brand new mix we did in our studio earlier this month, couldn't get any fresher really.

What are your past experiences of Cable?

The two Blackout shows we did with 'We Fear Silence' this year were awesome. Packed club full of good vibes! Can't wait for the next editions

Did you think about those when you were planning the mix? What was your aim with it?

The mix is more or less a showcase of what we like in drum'n'bass, not just in one sub genre but a trip trough the drum & bass spectrum.

Any surprises or special exclusives?

There's a lot of exclusive and new material in the mix, even some tracks of the forthcoming album 'From The Shadows'!

When are you next at Cable and what can we expect from your performance?

The next Blackout at Cable will be September 1st. I'm certain that will be a banging party as always!
