We Fear Silence present Blueprint with Speedy J & Regis
Room 2 Hosted By Colony: Lakker (DJ Set), Tengui, MB & CB
After drafting in Detroit pioneers Jeff Mills and Robert Hood respectively for our final 2 shows in 2012, Blueprint & We Fear Silence join forces once again bringing another collection of bona fide techno legends to the imposing arches of Cable.
Dutch beatsmith Speedy J has helped shape the face of techno since his breakthrough '92 EP 'Pullover' lit the minimal techno scene alive. An LP on Richie Hawtin's Plus 8 records followed in '93 and over the past 20 years the Rotterdam man has cemented his reputation as a true asset to global electronic music.
Next up we have Regis. For almost 20 years, the Sandwell District member and Downwards label boss has remained as one the most highly-regarded creative forces in British techno, albeit in an ever unconventional way. He's single minded and dilutes his art for no-one (which other labels can boast no big name remixers on their back catalogue?) and it's this yearning for genuine music that fuels the Regis enigma.
We also have a rare treat in store for you... As we embark on the 30th year of Daniel Miller's inspirational Mute Records imprint, it's a real honour to have the head honcho down to spin at Blueprint. The determinedly independent label Daniel founded, is home to Depeche Mode, Erasure, Nick Cave and Moby amongst others, and is one of the few genuinely independent UK record labels still in existence.
Of course the services of Blueprint boss and a true british heavyweight, James Ruskin, will be on hand. The Blueprint Records guv'nor is a man firmly embedded in electronic music and has been an integral contributor to the ever changing face of techno since the mid nineties. Couple with this, a special DJ set from Lakker in the Colony hosted room 2, and you have collection of 'proper' techno artists you're unlikely to see assembled anywhere else.
